In it's basic form yoga is simply a series of exercises designed to stretch and strengthen the body, whilst also promoting flexibility and peace of mind. Yet in essence it is far more than this. Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. There are six forms of practice. 1 Bhakti Yoga. This is the way Reunion through devotion. The focus here is on belief and devotion. 2 Jnana yoga. The way of enlightenment through discrimination. The focus here is understanding through learning. 3 Karma Yoga. The way of Inaction in Action. The focus here is acting without expectation. 4 Raja Yoga. The way of Reintegration in Stillness. The focus being on meditation and quiet mind. 5 Laya Yoga. The way of Oneness with the universe. The focus here is on the unification of mind body and spirit through all paths. 6 Hatha Yoga Is the physical expression of Yoga The focus is on the Asanas/exercises Which through study and practice, all the other levels of yoga become apparent.
